About Unica Textiles
Unica Textile Mills SA has a proud history of manufacturing industrial fabrics, such as Rip Stop Canvas and PVC. The family owned company boasts decades of experience in the textiles industry, operating a fully integrated manufacturing facility in Pretoria West.
A level 1 B-BBEE company, the Unica factory is the first of its kind in South Africa. Here the full production cycle, from the preparation of manufacturing of raw fabric through to the processing (Coating) of the fabrics is done under one roof.
The depth of experience of our staff means that we constantly work to the highest quality standards. Our aim is to constantly innovate and satisfy our clients’ needs, without compromising quality. To this end, Unica even has its own in-house laboratory and testing facility.
In this state-of-the art laboratory the correct coating chemicals, additives and dyes are mixed according to Unica’s proprietary recipe, ensuring a superior end product that adheres to both local (SABS) and international standards (ASTM 1019). Several quality control tests are performed throughout the production process and all final products are graded in terms of their finish and strength.
We pride ourselves on being flexible, allowing low minimum order quantities to make our product range accessible to more customers. We ensure fast turnaround times on any order by carrying sufficient stock of the most popular lines.
Unica offers clients comprehensive logistics support with an extensive fleet of vehicles, offering deliveries throughout Southern Africa.
Proprietary recipe
Different pastes for different products contain various ingredients (PVC, colour pigments, stabilisers, additives for water and stain resistance, anti-static, anti-fungal, flame retardant) to give the final products the desired qualities.

Inspection
At the rolling stage, all fabrics are thoroughly inspected for consistency of coating and colour.
Testing
Our in-house laboratory and testing facilities provide us with a first-class level of technical support. Every fabric we produce is rigorously tested to ensure that they are produced within strict manufacturing tolerances, and are designed to perform consistently to exceptionally high standards.
Our testing regime is intensive and includes a wide range of industry standard testing procedures:
